First it was "Global Warming"... Now the Environmentalnuts are claiming that it is "Global Weirding" which can be used to explain the weather patterns around the world...however, many meteorological scientists are now starting to question the mainstream idea of global warming - in fact, as is seen on this video clip, that the GLOBE IS ENTERING A COOLING PHASE.
History shows us in periods of global warming, societies tend to prosper, disease subsides, food supplies increase, and the overall quality of live is improved... comparatively, during periods of global cooling food supplies diminish, epidemic/pandemic cases of sickness are reported, and quality of life is generally decreased.
One thing is common, and grossly misunderstood - the globe is ALWAYS EITHER warming or cooling... there has NEVER been a stationary period... there has always been a pattern, always been a change - and it has NEVER been caused by humans or any other creature inhabiting this planet.
We should do better to understand how to best adapt to minor temperature changes - such as encouraging hardy crops that perform well in either climate, and raising livestock that performs the same... To think that we can put some sort of super absorbing pad into the sky and grab greenhouse gasses is not only insane, but will be devastating should we accomplish it, ensuring a significant global cooling / ice age that is sure to wipe out most of humanity from the face of the earth.
Thought - something that global warming nuts are not too quick to embrace.

US Ranks LAST on "Greendex" test... but Really?
The National Geographic Society conducted a survey in 14 countries in an attempt to determine the environmental consumption habits in relation to "Green Living"."Americans were least likely to choose the greener option in three of four categories — housing, transportation and consumer goods — according to the assessment"At a 50,000ft level, I can see how this survey's results have any intrinsic value... and I am sure that the results will be further used by the Global Warming Gestapo to show, yet again, that Americans are the source of the worlds ills.
However, as was reported in the article revealing the results:
"Brazil ranked high, for example, because the average household is physically small, most homes aren't heated, few are air-conditioned and Brazilians tend to use on-demand water heaters."Brazil is ranked at the top because their citizens live in hovels. That may be a bit extreme, but when most homes are unpowered, unheated, lacking air conditioning or other amenities that a first world country enjoys, one must consider the intended outcome of such a survey. Is the National Geographic Society suggesting that Americans return to pre-industrial revolution lifestyles?
Perhaps.
But let's look at the other countries that "beat" the US (in order of ranking):
- Brazil
- India
- China
- Mexico
- Hungary
- Russia
- Great Britain
- Germany
- Australia
- Spain
- Japan
- France
- Canada
Mexico, ranking fourth... where 1/10 of Mexico's population is living within the borders of the United States. The northern towns are in destitution, poverty and lawlessness is the norm.
Hungary, a nation whose goal is to "become a developed country by IMF standards". The IMF is the International Monetary Fund. Hungary is a self described "less than first world" country.
The top 5 finishers in the "Greendex" survey, then, come from undeveloped and poverty stricken countries... mostly where there is no free market choice of consumption, and often times little to no consumption choice even available.
My summary is that the survey, which is soon to be another tool in the belt of the Al Gores of the world, is little more than useless data decrying advances in the modern world.
Can developed countries do better to "be green". Yes.
But don't try to use a survey to show that the US ranks last, when the outcome of the survey is based on the general poverty level of the citizens... A green ranking should not be given just because the citizens live in unpowered mud huts in the swamps. A more accurate ranking would take into account level of technologies, and our ability and willingness to use said technology to ensure higher standards of living in conjunction with green living.

Open Spaces
It is important not only to be conservative with social and economic issues, but also with environmental issues. The Republican Party has been given a bad rap on environmental issues, mainly because of certain blind support for "big business".
I propose a little talked about idea: a Conservative Conservationist movement. Any time you hear talk about an environmentalist, it is usually protrayed in the light of a "tree hugging hippy"... but I would argue that anyone who is NOT environmentally minded should be portrayed in the negative light.
Imagine, if you will, standing on a windy hillside looking out over a beautiful field... nature at it's finest. Your hiking or biking trail winds through the open spaces away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Now, imagine looking to your feet and seeing a piece of trash... a little upsetting... you can pick that up and pack it out...
What if that piece of trash was an old tire, a used oil illegal dump, or something else that is harder to remove... You may feel the same way that I do, a little upset that this moment of beauty is being interrupted as well as the earth being scarred...
Now imagine looking out over that same image and seeing not a rolling hillside of open space, but a housing developement or landfill... something a little more permanent... Now the view has truly been lost, not to mention the wildlife, folliage, etc...
I am not saying that all developement should halt. Rather I am challenging all urban growth to consider, on a wider scale, environmental issues. maintain a larger amount of open spaces. Stop industrial AND personal waste. Make changes on a large and small scale...
It is the way that we think today that will shape the attitudes towards the environment tomorrow. So challenge yourself to take the small steps. If everyone puts forth a little effort, we can maintain our often un-noticed treasures for generations to come!
Please keep this in mind while enjoying a trail, campsite, or even the open road on this Memorial Day weekend!
God Bless!
